DSG-Software
Most tuning companies still claim that DSG software upgrades are unnecessary for tuned vehicles. Often, tricks are used to disable DSG gear torque engagement commands, or engine torque calculations are manipulated to stay within factory limits and avoid DSG torque limitations. All of these incorrect ECU adjustments, along with DSG software, will almost always result in:
Excessive clutch wear
Displacement problems
Potential power loss
Gearbox breakdown (eventually)
The explanation is simple: The function of the DSG transmission relies heavily on real-time engine driving parameters received via the CAN bus. Without correct data from the engine, the Transmission Control Unit (TCU)'s initial calculations are incorrect (or limited), leading to serious problems.
Initially, no problems may be noticed, but after a period of learning incorrect adjustment values and increased wear (due to increased slip), the clutch will break down. In addition to all the risks of excessive wear and failure, the DSG must be reprogrammed to perfectly match the new engine characteristics. In other words, to fully exploit the vehicle's performance potential, modified shift speeds and increased torque capacity and oil pressures will be required!
So YES, after tuning an engine, the DSG software must also be reprogrammed!
Optimized D + S + M Shift Program
Improved, unique shift strategies tailored to your engine to enhance ultra-smooth up and down shifts.
1. Disengage or Reengage Icon
1. Disengage or Reengage
The main goal of reengaging first gear is to reduce clutch drag, resulting in less heat generation and clutch wear. For wet-clutch applications, shifting into second gear earlier could resolve drivability issues. TVS always uses the best strategy for each application!
Improved clutch cooling icon
Improved clutch cooling
Clutch cooling is improved by increasing oil flow. This reduces the possibility of overheating and material deformation.
Improved thermal management icon
Improved thermal management
Improved thermal management ensures that the transmission always operates within the correct temperature range and warns the driver if the DSG reaches critical temperatures.
Torque limiter raised icon
Torque limiter raised
Torque limiters must be raised to utilize maximum potential power from tuned engines. This also ensures that the TCU can operate correctly at higher torque levels and that calculations are not limited.
Increased maximum clutch pressure icon
Increased maximum clutch pressure
In the normal operating range and under steady-state conditions, clutch oil pressures can be proportional to clutch torque handling. To handle more torque, more pressure is needed!
Improved Shift Speed Icon
Improved Shift Speed
Ultra-fast shifts in all DSG modes. Smooth under light load, ultra-fast under high load!
Improved Shift Paddle Response Icon
Improved Shift Pad Response
Improved Steering Wheel Paddle Response. Smooth under light load, ultra-fast under high load!
Improved Upshift Speed Icon
Improved Upshift Speed
Ultra-fast upshifts in all DSG modes. Smooth under light load, ultra-fast under high load!
Improved Downshift Speed Icon
Improved Downshift Speed
Ultra-fast downshifts in all DSG modes. Smooth under light load, ultra-fast under high load!
Improved Start Icon
Improved Start
Improved set-off controls resulting in smooth starts without factory dings or drivability issues.
Improved Torque Icon
Improved Torque Reduction
DSG torque reduction is primarily used to synchronize both clutches after shifting, so perfect timing is key to ultra-fast and smooth shifting!
Custom Upshift Shift Points Icon
Custom Upshift RPM Target Points
Perfectly matched speeds based on engine characteristics and customer preferences.
Custom Downshift RPM Target Points Icon
Custom Downshift RPM Target Points
Perfectly matched downshift speeds based on engine characteristics and customer preferences.
Auto and Downshift Deactivation in Hand Icon
Auto and Downshift Deactivation in Manual
Gain full control of your vehicle in Manual (M) mode. No more unwanted automatic upshifts or unwanted automatic downshifts and "kickdown" in Manual.
